ARINC Aviation Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: $2,000

Application Deadline: October (awarded in Fall Semester only)

Requirements to Apply:

  • Completed one year as an OU Aviation Major
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Overall GPA: 2.80, and Major GPA: 3.00 or higher
  • Currently enrolled in a credit flight course at OU
  • Flight fees cannot be paid by other scholarship or program
  • Actively involved in Aviation Club or Alpha Eta Rho a plus

Application Process:

  • Submit resume and one page essay telling about yourself and your career aspirations
  • Submit all application materials before the deadline to the Aviation Advising Office in the Terminal Bldg. Rm. 209

James M. Cook Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: $1,000 (scholarship may be divided in half at the discretion of the selection committee)

Application Deadlines: October & February (awarded in the Fall & Spring semesters)

Requirements to Apply:

  • Minimum Overall 2.80 GPA.
  • Declared Aviation Major for one year at OU.
  • Display leadership & initiative as evidenced by extracurricular activities, awards, & honors.
  • Flight fees cannot be covered by another scholarship.
    Application Process:
  • Submit a resume (pilot’s format) including your overall GPA.
  • Submit a brief narrative expressing your aviation goals, career objective, why you feel you deserve the award and how you will use it.


Flight Time Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: $1,000 to assist OU Aviation Majors with the cost of flight training

Application Deadlines: October & February (awarded in the Fall & Spring semesters)

Requirements to Apply:

  • Have completed one full year as an OU Aviation major
  • Be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.50 overall GPA, and a 3.00 major GPA
  • Sophomore through senior standing
  • High moral character with history of integrity
  • Flight fees cannot be covered by another scholarship or program
  • Professional Pilot or Aviation Management student currently enrolled in a credit flight course

Application Process:

  • Submit Pilot resume and one page essay describing why you wish to be a career pilot, and what you are passionate about outside of aviation.
  • Written letter from President of a student or volunteer organization you are currently involved with that describes the contributions you have made to that organization and how long you have been an active member.

Joe Coulter Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: $1,000 (scholarship may be divided in half at the discretion of the selection committee)

  • Declared Aviation Major for one year at OU.

Marc Heitz Chevrolet
Summer Sales Internship & Scholarship Program

Scholarship Amount: 
$1,000 (upon successful completion of the internship)

Application Deadline:
Approx. Mid-Spring

Requirements to Apply (at time of application):

  • Declared Aviation Major at OU for at least two semesters
  • Minimum Overall G.P.A. of 2.50
  • Strong interest in business; sales experience helpful but not required

Application Process:

Submit resume and cover letter to Shelly Ainsworth in the Aviation Advising Office, Terminal Bldg. Rm. 209. Selected applicants will be interviewed by Marc Heitz Chevrolet and must complete a personality profile and Wonderlic evaluation.


Van Horn Scholarship

Scholarship Amount:
$500 Tuition Waiver to be applied towards flight fees at OU.
Application Deadlines: October & February (awarded in the Fall—2 scholarships; Spring—2 scholarships; & Summer—1 scholarship)

Requirements to Apply:

  • Minimum Overall 2.80 GPA.
  • Declared Aviation Flying Major for one year at OU, and enrolled in a credit flight course at time of application.
  • Display leadership & initiative as evidenced by extracurricular activities, awards, & honors.
  • Flight fees cannot be covered by another scholarship.

Application Process:

  • Submit a resume (pilot’s format) including your overall GPA.
  • Submit a brief narrative expressing your aviation goals, career objective, why you feel you deserve the award and how you will use it.

Winifred Adams Holland Scholarship

Scholarship Amount: $500

Application Deadlines: February and October

Requirements to Apply:

  • Minimum Overall 2.80 GPA, and a 3.00 Major GPA
  • Declared Aviation Major (flying or non-flying) for one year at OU.
  • Display leadership and initiative as evidenced by extracurricular activities, community service, awards and honors.

Application Process:

  • Submit a cover letter and resume including your overall GPA.
  • Submit a brief narrative detailing why you chose Aviation as your major and what short-term and long-term career goals are.
  • Provide at least three references and their contact information that can attest to your leadership potential and integrity.
