Aviation Management (Flying Concentration) *
The Aviation Management concentration trains students to become commercial or corporate pilots, while also including a strong foundation of business coursework to further diversify their skill set. Students can use their free electives to gain additional flight experience if they so desire. From cockpit to boardroom, the Aviation Management student’s career horizons are significantly expanded!

Aviation Management (Non-Flying Concentration) *
This concentration prepares students who do not wish to enter the industry as a pilot, but who wish to meet the growing demands for management positions within the aviation industry. The FAA states there are five non-flying aviation jobs for every one pilot in the sky.

Aviation Management (Air Traffic Management Concentration) *
The Air Traffic Management concentration trains students for the exciting and lucrative career opportunities in the Air Traffic Control profession. In addition to the general education and business coursework, completion of this degree qualifies students for AT-CTI candidacy for Air Traffic Control positions with the FAA, Lockheed Martin AFSS and others. OU’s AT-CTI program consists of five traditional and one online course that constitute a significant portion of the major requirement’s area. This program is unique in that it provides training in every possible ATC venue: Air Traffic Control Tower Operator, Enroute Non-Radar and Radar Training, Terminal Radar Training, Traffic Management and Flight Service. Once the Aviation bachelor of science degree has been completed, OU Aviation will recommend the student to the FAA for hiring as an Air Traffic Controller. To be eligible, one may not have reached his/her 31st birthday. OU has the distinct advantage of being located approximately 20 miles from the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City.

* Each Aviation Management Area of Concentration has a "General Business" minor built into the area of concentration assuming students graduate with the GPA requirement set forth by the Michael F. Price College of Business in their minor coursework.
Professional Pilot
When pursuing the Professional Pilot concentration, you
are required to earn a private pilot
through commercial pilot--multi engine
certificate. You will also complete a
Turbine Transition and a Crew Resource
management course. Your course work will
include a foundation of business and
management courses and you may choose
from a wide variety of electives.

Each of the Professional Studies Areas of Concentration will result in a bachelor of science degree upon completion.
Aviation Minor Options
We now offer minor options in Aviation. Options are available for Single-Engine Commercial Pilot, Multi-Engine Commercial Pilot, Air Traffic Control, and Aviation Management. Get your pilot certificate and class credit! Air Traffic Control is the only Aviation minor option that an Aviation major may pursue. However, if a student is pursuing the Aviation Management Air Traffic concentration they can choose to complete the Single-Engine or Multi-Engine Commercial Pilot Minor.

you must first be admitted to the University

All first-year students are enrolled
in University College. To be admitted
to the Aviation Program from University
College, you must fulfill the following
requirements:
- earn a minimum of 24 hours of college
credit
- possess a combined retention grade
point average of 2.25
Students who meet these minimum requirements
may also be required to satisfy additional
requirements for various Aviation courses.
