Staff

(For a list of all college requirements,
please refer to the OU
General Catalog.)
Math Requirements
Aviation majors are required to complete
a math course every semester
until the Math 1743 requirement is fulfilled.
Failure to comply with this policy will
lead to the student being stopped-out
of the Aviation Department and thus having
to change their major.
Grade Point Averages
To be eligible for graduation, aviation
majors must have earned a minimum of
2.25 in all retention grade point averages.
While 2.25 is the minimum GPA allowed
for graduation, the Aviation Department
urges students to strive for at least
a 3.00 GPA to maximize their competitiveness
within the aviation industry after their
degree completion.
NOTE: Students earning the general
business minor must have a minimum
minor GPA and an upper division business
minor GPA of a 2.50.
Stop-out Process
All Aviation Majors
are required to consistently:
- Maintain a minimum 2.25 OU Retention
GPA
- Maintain a minimum 2.25 Combined
Retention GPA
- Comply with specific Aviation
Department and FAA rules
- Make progress each semester towards
their major requirements
and degree completion
Students who violate any of these
mandatory academic and/or professional
standards will be stopped-out of
the department and must change their
major. Stopped-Out students will
not be allowed to return to the Aviation
Department or enroll in aviation
courses without first applying for
readmission.
Readmission into the program is
unlikely until the student has:
- Earned a 3.50 GPA (at least twelve
credit hours) in the next semester
- Earned two consecutive semesters
of a 3.00 GPA (in at least twelve
credit hours each semester)
- Raised their OU GPA to a minimum
of a 2.25 GPA
While stopped-out of the Aviation
Department, students cannot have
earned a “D” or “F” in
any math, science or business course.
It is strongly recommended students
complete courses in these fields
if they wish to be readmitted to
the program.
NOTE: Once a student has been stopped-out
twice, they must wait three years to
apply for readmission to the Aviation
Department.
