Advising is required prior to
enrollment each semester.
Special permission must be posted
for every flying course.

Prerequisite Sequence
All
Aviation majors are required to complete
the following prior to enrolling in any
upper division business coursework:
- ENGL 1113 and 1213
- COMM 1113
- Math 1743
- All Basic Business Requirements
- BAD 1001
NOTE: To remain on track for graduation,
students must enroll in these courses
every semester.
Degree Residency
Candidates for the Bachelor of Science
in Aviation degree must meet degree residency
in one of two ways.
- Complete the last 30 hours at OU
in residence (no transfer or correspondence)
- Complete fifty-one of the last sixty
hours at OU in residence
NOTE: It is highly recommended students
consult their advisor prior to enrolling
in any transfer coursework. Failure
to meet degree residency can prevent
a student from graduating.
Transfer Credits
- Students may not use more than
sixty-five hours of transfer work from
a two-year college toward their degree
completion
- Credit from a two-year college will
be accepted to meet lower division
requirements only
- A maximum of twelve credit hours
of transfer work will apply in the
major area
Advanced Standing Examination
Students who complete a pilot certificate
or additional rating outside of OU may
be eligible to earn college credit. Students
who feel they are eligible should contact
their advisor and the Chief Flight Instructor
in the Aviation Department.
NOTE:
- There is a limit to the number of
credit hours that can be obtained through
advanced standing
- Students who have earned a grade,
besides W, in a course are not eligible
for advanced standing
- Advanced standing credit in certain
aviation courses may affect a student’s
PART 141 status with the FAA; please
consult the Chief Flight Instructor
prior to taking the exam
Graduation
Prior to being cleared for graduation,
aviation majors must:
- Obtain a graduation check before
enrolling in their last semester
- Complete an exit interview form
- Have a current graduation application
on file in the Aviation Advising Office
Students who earn an OU and combined
retention grade point average of at least
a 3.50 may graduate with Distinction.
Those students earning an OU and combined
retention GPA of at least 3.75 may graduate
with Special Distinction.
NOTE: No student who has been subject
to disciplinary action will be granted
a degree with Distinction or Special
Distinction.
